Fire Risk Tracker is a specialist fire door inspection platform that helps managing agents, surveyors, and contractors capture inspections on site, keep records organised, and stay compliant with evolving fire safety regulations.

Project Description

In blocks of flats, fire doors are critical for resident safety, but inspections are often scattered across spreadsheets, emails, and paper notes. Fire Risk Tracker was built to bring everything into one system: properties, flats, doors, inspections, findings, and reports.

Managing agents upload flat‑specific details for each site, assign those sites to surveyors, and then rely on the mobile app for fieldwork. Surveyors log in, work flat by flat, and record information for every door, including photos and notes. Barcodes or QR tags are applied to doors to make follow‑up visits simple and to keep repeat‑visit history tied to each door.

Once an inspection is completed and synced, surveyors and office teams can review the data through an online portal, generate reports, and share results with residents and contractors. Our team implemented this ecosystem using Swift and Kotlin for the mobile apps, PHP/Laravel and MySQL for the backend, and a responsive web app and marketing site hosted on AWS/GoDaddy.

The main business goal for Fire Risk Tracker was to reduce the time, confusion, and manual effort involved in fire door inspections, especially for managing agents juggling multiple buildings and stakeholders.

By digitising the workflow and centralising inspection data, the platform aims to cut liaison time between agents, surveyors, contractors, and residents by a significant margin, while giving everyone clearer visibility into what has been inspected, what needs remedial work, and what is compliant.

At a strategic level, Fire Risk Tracker positions itself as a complete solution for fire door inspection management, capable of supporting UK‑based compliance requirements and scaling with portfolios as more blocks and doors are added.

Site & Flat Management

Managing agents can upload site and flat data, ensuring every door in a block is linked to the right property and resident from the start of the inspection process.

Surveyor Assignments & Mobile Inspections

Sites are assigned to surveyors, who use the Android and iOS apps to work flat by flat, capturing inspection details, photos, and notes directly on site.

Barcode / QR Door Tagging

Doors are tagged with barcodes or QR codes for easy identification, making follow‑up visits and repeat inspections faster and more accurate.

Door Register & Repeat‑Visit History

Each door has a stable record with linked findings and history, allowing teams to track changes and remedial work over multiple inspections.

Online Portal & Reporting

Completed inspections sync to the server and can be reviewed via an online portal, with structured reports that are ready to share with clients, auditors, and residents.

Centralised Data & Compliance View

The web app and admin panel centralise inspection data, helping managing agents quickly see which buildings and doors are compliant, overdue, or awaiting remedial action.

Secure, Cloud‑Hosted Infrastructure

Laravel, MySQL, and AWS hosting provide a secure environment for inspection data, with encrypted transit and role‑based access across mobile, web, and admin tools.

Marketing Website & Lead Capture

A dedicated website explains the product and lets potential clients request access or demos, supporting Fire Risk Tracker’s growth in the property and fire safety market.

Turning a complex, regulation‑driven workflow into a simple app experience

Fire door inspections must capture detailed information while staying aligned with safety standards, but surveyors still need to move quickly on site.

We mapped out the full inspection journey with the client and translated it into clear, step‑by‑step flows in the mobile app, keeping the UI focused on structured fields, photos, and tags so surveyors can work efficiently without missing critical data.

Maintaining data integrity across sites, flats, and doors

With many properties and thousands of doors, it’s easy for data to become inconsistent or disconnected.

The backend was designed around stable door IDs, linked site/flat records, and controlled sync processes, ensuring that inspections always tie back to the correct door and property.

Working in buildings with poor connectivity

Surveyors often inspect basements, stairwells, and risers where mobile signal is weak.

The app supports local data capture with careful sync handling, allowing surveyors to complete inspections offline and push data to the server once they’re back on a stronger connection.

Before Fire Risk Tracker, a lot of time was spent chasing documents and updates via email and phone.

Centralised records, accessible reports, and clear portals help each stakeholder see the latest information without extra back‑and‑forth, significantly cutting communication overhead.
