About Project

Griot, powered by Legacy Cache, is a social storytelling app designed to help people document their lives, preserve meaningful memories, and share their personal journeys with the people who matter most.

The platform gives users a lasting digital space to save photos, videos, voice notes, documents, milestones, and personal stories. Rather than treating memories as temporary social media posts, Griot turns them into a living legacy that can be revisited and passed on to future generations.

iRoid Solutions delivered Android and iOS mobile applications along with a supporting website, creating an accessible and personal experience for capturing, organising, and sharing life stories.

Project Description

Many important family stories disappear over time. Memories, traditions, achievements, personal experiences, and family history are often scattered across phones, social media platforms, old albums, and documents. Griot was created to bring these pieces together in one meaningful digital space.

Users can capture moments as they happen through photos, videos, voice notes, written memories, and important documents. They can organise their stories, decide what remains private, and choose what they want to share with family members, friends, or future generations.

The experience was designed to feel personal rather than overwhelming. Instead of encouraging users to post only polished highlights, Griot gives them the freedom to preserve ordinary moments, personal reflections, family milestones, and stories in their own words and voice.

We developed the mobile applications using Kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS, supported by an HTML-based website. The platform was designed to make legacy-building simple, accessible, and emotionally meaningful across devices.

Business Goals

The main business goal for Griot was to create a purpose-driven social platform focused on long-term memory preservation rather than short-term engagement.

The product aims to build a community where users can document their personal journeys, connect with family and friends, and create a meaningful archive that remains valuable over time. By combining social sharing with private legacy preservation, Griot offers a differentiated alternative to traditional social media platforms.

For the business, the goal was to establish a strong digital legacy brand with opportunities to expand into family archives, premium storage, guided storytelling, private communities, and other services focused on preserving personal and cultural history.

Features

Personal Storytelling

Users can document the story of who they are, what they have experienced, what they believe in, and what they have achieved through different types of content.

Photos and Video Memories

The app allows users to upload and preserve photos and videos that capture important life moments, family experiences, achievements, and everyday memories.

Voice Notes and Personal Narratives

Users can record voice notes and tell stories in their own voice, making their digital legacy feel more personal and authentic.

Document and Archive Storage

Important documents, family records, ancestry information, and other meaningful files can be organised alongside personal memories and multimedia content.

Private and Shared Memories

Users can choose which stories to keep private and which memories to share with selected family members, friends, or their wider community.

Organised Digital Legacy

Memories can be grouped into a structured personal archive, making it easier to revisit specific people, events, milestones, and stages of life.

Family and Community Storytelling

Griot encourages users to preserve family history and share stories that help present and future generations better understand their roots and the people who came before them.

Social Interaction

The platform combines legacy preservation with social features, allowing users to engage with stories, memories, and experiences shared by people in their network.

Cross-Platform Mobile Access

Native Android and iOS applications give users a convenient way to capture memories whenever inspiration strikes, whether they are at home, travelling, or attending an important family event.

Legacy-Focused Website

The supporting website introduces the platform, explains its purpose, and encourages users to begin documenting their life stories and preserving what matters most.

Challenges & Solutions

Solutions

Making legacy preservation feel relevant during everyday life

People often think about preserving memories only during major life events, which can make the process feel distant or difficult to begin.

We positioned Griot as a living legacy platform that users can update naturally over time. The experience supports both major milestones and ordinary moments, making memory preservation part of everyday life instead of a one-time project.

Supporting many types of personal content

A meaningful legacy may include photographs, videos, voice recordings, written stories, documents, and family records. Managing all these formats in one product can quickly become complicated.

The app was structured around flexible content creation and organisation, allowing users to preserve different kinds of memories while maintaining a consistent and easy-to-understand experience.

Balancing social sharing with personal privacy

Users may want to share selected stories with family and friends while keeping more personal memories private.

Privacy and sharing were treated as core parts of the product experience. Users can decide what they want to preserve privately and what they want to make available to selected people or their wider community.

Creating an emotional connection without making the interface complicated

Legacy products need to feel warm and personal, but users still need clear navigation and simple controls.

We focused on straightforward content flows, familiar mobile interactions, and a calm interface that keeps the user’s story at the centre. The technology stays in the background so users can focus on remembering, recording, and sharing.

Encouraging users to contribute consistently

A legacy platform becomes more valuable as users continue adding stories and memories over time.

The product was designed around repeatable content creation, allowing users to quickly capture a thought, upload a photo, record a voice note, or add a milestone whenever they have something meaningful to preserve.

Preserving stories for future generations

The platform needed to communicate long-term value while remaining useful in the present.

Griot combines immediate social and personal benefits with a larger purpose: creating an organised digital archive that families can revisit and carry forward across generations.
