About Project
TaanaBaana (Reaghan WeaveCost) is a crossâplatform costing and calculation tool built for the textile industry, designed to replace slow, errorâprone manual calculations with a fast, digital workflow.
Your team built a Flutter app (Android and iOS–ready) with a Node.js backend and admin panel so mill owners, fabric manufacturers, yarn traders, and weaving units can calculate warp and weft costs, fabric rates, weaving expenses, and profit margins quickly and accurately, anytime, anywhere.

Project Description
In textile and weaving businesses, costing is everything, but it’s often handled through manual formulas in notebooks or spreadsheets. That makes it easy to make mistakes and hard to respond quickly to price changes or new orders. TaanaBaana was created to solve this with a dedicated textile costing app that fits right into the daily workflow of mills and weaving units.
Inside the app, users can enter details about warp and weft quality, yarn counts, densities, fabric width, and other key parameters. The app then calculates yarn consumption, weaving cost, fabric cost per unit, and estimated profit for a given order or design. Instead of reâdoing formulas each time, users can run multiple scenarios in seconds and save or export the results as professionalâlooking reports.
Built with Flutter and Dart, TaanaBaana offers a consistent experience across Android and future iOS deployment. A Node.js backend powers user accounts, saved calculations, and report management, while the admin panel allows the client to configure formulas, update defaults (like overheads or conversion factors), and support users as the product evolves.
Business Goals
The main business goal of TaanaBaana is to help textile businesses move from manual, personâdependent costing to a standardised, digital system that is faster, more accurate, and easier to scale.
For owners and managers, that means:
- Making quick costing decisions with confidence
- Reducing pricing errors that eat into margins
- Giving teams a shared, consistent way to calculate and compare costs
Strategically, the app positions itself as a “financial brain” for weaving units and fabric manufacturers, laying the foundation for future premium plans, multiâuser setups, and deeper analytics around costing, production planning, and profitability.
Features
Warp & Weft Costing Calculator
Users can enter yarn details, densities, and fabric specs to calculate warp and weft consumption and cost accurately.
Fabric Cost & Profit Estimation
The app combines raw material cost, weaving cost, and other factors to estimate fabric cost per unit and potential profit for a given order.
Digital Production Planning Support
Calculations can be used to support production planning—helping teams understand how much yarn is needed and what output and costs to expect.
Save & Reuse Calculations
Users can save costing scenarios for different fabrics or clients and revisit or adjust them instead of starting from scratch every time.
PDF Report Generation
Costing results can be converted into shareable PDF reports, making it easy to send details to staff, buyers, or management.
MobileâFirst, OnâTheâGo Use
The app is designed for quick use on the shop floor, in the office, or on the go—perfect for owners and managers who travel or supervise multiple units.
Admin Panel for Formula & Parameter Control
Through the admin panel, the client can update default values (like overhead percentages), tweak calculation logic, and manage users without changing the app itself.
Flutter + Node.js Architecture
A Flutter frontâend paired with a Node.js backend gives the product a modern, scalable base that can grow with more features, users, and integrations.

Challenges & Solutions
Challenges
Solutions
Converting complex textile formulas into a simple UI
Costing in textiles involves many variables that can easily confuse users if the interface is not clear.
The app breaks calculations into logical steps (warp, weft, fabric, weaving, profit) with labelled fields and sensible defaults, so users feel guided rather than overwhelmed.
Matching realâworld practices across different mills
Different businesses may use slightly different costing assumptions or methods.
Core formulas are standardised, but the admin panel allows key parameters (overheads, margins, rates) to be configured, so each business can align the app with its own practice.
Reducing reliance on âexpertâ individuals
Many units depend heavily on one person to “know all the numbers” and do the math.
TaanaBaana encodes that expertise into the app, so anyone with basic domain knowledge can perform costing, making the business less vulnerable to staff changes.
Building trust in digital calculations
Users who are used to manual math may initially doubt app results.
The app’s stepâbyâstep input and visible intermediate outputs help users crossâcheck results with their own calculations until they gain confidence and switch fully.
Keeping performance smooth with heavy numeric logic
Multiple, nested calculations can slow down poorly designed apps.
The Flutter UI and Node.js backend are optimised for quick processing, with calculations handled efficiently so results feel instant, even with complex inputs.
