About Project
Grape Customer (Eânaso) is a mobile marketplace app designed to make everyday online shopping simple, safe, and accessible for users who want a trustworthy alternative to informal buying and selling.
Your team delivered the full customer platform, UI/UX, Flutter app, Laravelâbased APIs, and an admin panel, so shoppers can log in quickly, explore verified products, add items to their cart, and place secure orders, while the Grape team keeps tight control over vendors and product quality behind the scenes.

Project Description
In many emerging markets, people rely on WhatsApp groups, social media posts, and informal pages to buy and sell products. That creates a lot of friction and risk: no clear product details, no order tracking, and weak protection against lowâquality or unsafe items. Grape was built to change that by offering a proper marketplace experience that still feels simple enough for everyday users.
With the Grape Customer app, users sign up or log in quickly using their mobile number and OTP. Once inside, they can browse across multiple categories, view real photos and descriptions, compare items, and add products to their cart or wishlist. A smooth checkout flow supports convenient options like COD (cash on delivery) where enabled, and users can track their orders from purchase to delivery. Smart search and filters help them find exactly what they need without scrolling endlessly.
On the backend, a Laravel + MySQL stack powers product listings, user accounts, orders, and vendor data. The admin panel, built with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, jQuery, and Laravel views, gives the Grape team full control over which products are allowed, how vendors are onboarded, and how content is moderated—so the marketplace stays clean, safe, and aligned with local rules.
Business Goals
The main business goal of Grape is to create a trusted, locally relevant eâcommerce experience in Somalia, one that reduces the risks of informal trading while keeping the buying process familiar and straightforward.
For customers, the goal is to make online shopping feel safe and predictable, with verified vendors, clearly described products, and order tracking. For Grape as a business, the platform sets the foundation for scaling to more categories, more cities, and more structured seller programs, turning a basic marketplace into a longâterm eâcommerce brand.
By centralising listings and enforcing quality rules, Grape positions itself as the “safe place to shop online” in its market, building loyalty and repeat usage over time.
Features
Simple Mobile Login
Users can log in quickly with a mobile number and OTP, avoiding complex signâup flows and making the app accessible to a wide audience.
Clean Product Browsing

Order Tracking
Customers can follow their orders from placement to delivery, which builds trust and reduces “where is my order?” uncertainty.

Verified Vendors & Safe Listings
Only approved vendors and compliant products are allowed on the platform, with strict rules to prevent harmful or inappropriate listings.
Admin Panel for Control & Moderation
The Laravelâbased admin panel lets the Grape team manage vendors, approve products, oversee orders, and enforce marketplace guidelines in real time.
Flutter Frontend + Laravel Backend
A Flutter app delivers a smooth crossâplatform experience, while the Laravel + MySQL backend handles business logic, security, and data storage.

Challenges & Solutions
Challenges
Solutions
Building trust in a new online marketplace
Users are cautious about payment, product quality, and whether orders will actually arrive.
The app design emphasises verified vendors, clear product information, order tracking, and support access, reinforcing the message that Grape is a controlled, safe environment, not just another random shop link.
Keeping the UX simple for firstâtime online shoppers
Many users may be new to structured eâcommerce apps.
The interface uses large, clear buttons, familiar patterns (cart, wishlist, categories), and an OTPâbased login to minimise friction and make the app feel approachable.
Ensuring product safety and cleanliness of the marketplace
Without strong moderation, lowâquality or inappropriate products could damage trust.
Vendor onboarding, product approval workflows, and strict content rules are managed from the admin panel, so only compliant listings appear in the customer app.
Handling local preferences like COD and informal buying habits
Users may still prefer cash and direct communication.
The system supports COD where suitable and keeps communication lines open while gradually guiding users into a more structured, trackable order flow.
Designing for growth while starting small
The app needs to work well with a small catalog today, but scale to thousands of products and vendors tomorrow.
The backend data models and admin tools were created with categories, vendors, and orders as firstâclass entities, allowing Grape to add more products and sellers without rethinking the core architecture.
