About Project
Home Cooked Self Picked is a marketplace app that connects local home chefs with customers looking for fresh, homemade meals they can discover, order, and pick up with ease. The platform was built to make home-cooked food more accessible while giving local cooks a simple digital space to sell their meals and grow their own food business.
iRoid Solutions designed and developed the complete product experience, including UI/UX, a Flutter app, API web services, and an admin panel, creating a smooth connection between customers, sellers, and the internal operations team.

Project Description
The idea behind Home Cooked Self Picked was simple: make home-style meals easier to find for customers and easier to sell for local chefs. Instead of relying only on traditional restaurants or food delivery platforms, the app gives users a direct way to explore nearby homemade food options and pick them up when convenient.
We built the solution as a mobile-first marketplace with Flutter, Laravel backend services, MySQL database support, and AWS hosting to keep the experience stable and scalable. The admin panel helps manage users, listings, orders, and platform activity, while the app itself focuses on clean browsing, easy ordering, and a friendly food discovery experience.
Business Goals
The main business goal was to create a community-driven food marketplace that supports local home chefs while offering customers a healthier, more personal alternative to fast food and generic meal options.
At the same time, the platform helps sellers turn their cooking skills into income by giving them visibility, order flow, and a digital storefront without the complexity of building a business from scratch. In short, the goal was to connect two sides of the market in a way that feels local, practical, and easy to use.

Challenges & Solutions
Challenges
Solutions
Making the marketplace feel trustworthy
Customers needed confidence that the food was fresh, reliable, and prepared by real local chefs.
We designed the experience around clear seller listings, structured food details, and a simple order flow that helps users feel informed before they buy.
Balancing two user types in one product
The app had to serve both customers and home chefs without making either side feel complicated.
We created role-based flows so each user type gets exactly what they need, customers can browse and order easily, while sellers can manage meals and availability efficiently.
Presenting food clearly and attractively
Food apps depend heavily on visuals and simple decision-making, so poor design could affect conversions.
The UI was built to highlight meals, simplify navigation, and keep the focus on discovery, availability, and pickup convenience.
Handling order and listing updates smoothly
Meal availability can change quickly based on daily prep, ingredients, and schedule.
The Laravel backend and admin panel make it easy to update menus, availability, and order information in real time.
Building for growth without overcomplicating the product
The app needed to stay simple for local users while still supporting future scaling.
We used a clean Flutter + Laravel architecture with AWS hosting so the platform can expand as more sellers and customers join.
